Keith Carter's work.
On another thread there's discussion about the unlikely value of college degrees in photography, where I asserted that such a degree would be less useful (or worse) than being mentored or taking one or two courses.
Carter might be someone worth studying with, for the right person, based on his Statement.
Photo-Eye sent an announcement yesterday stating that Carter's print prices were going up. That price increase is an interesting topic in itself...it comes from a gallery that's very successful selling its artists work at high (for me anyway) prices. I'm sure the just-announced
Michael Kenna photo book, which they also announced this week, will also sell well. Photo-Eye is remarkably effective selling expensive artists' books, some of them signed, from the gallery.
