I think they may be having some technical difficulties last night and this morning.

I suspect the site is going the way of most first rollouts of software.

Yep, been there done that. In fact, one company I was with did not recover from an upgrade it went so BAD.

However, KEH is a very solid group and they will work through it I'm sure of that......

I still use a CLI. I use Linux, and find some things are faster that way. At the moment I'm hacking my Android phone with ADB.

Older site was way better in my opinion. But it has now been turned off...only the new one is up.

Peace

Well after 10+ years a customer without access to the classic site I'm done with them. New site is such awful and cumbersome design.

I don't visit the site anymore either. Found some larger items I wanted elsewhere. I don't need to spend three times as much time to get the same result.

Yup. No fan here either. With the old site I could zero in on what I was looking for in 2 clicks. And see everything at once when I got there. Now I have to trial-and-error wade through pages of unfamiliar territory. Bigger pictures are nice, but not at the expense of navigability.

[Edit: So if you KEH guys really are reading this, bigger pictures don't help for two reasons. First, they are generic. They only illustrate the model category, not the actual item for sale. And second, people who come to KEH generally already know what they are after. Both spec-wise and appearance-wise. And since we all trust your grading system, the bigger pictures don't add much more than a visual confirmation that's not needed. But using big pictures also causes the loss of the high-density information screens. This really impacts navigation negatively because one must now search by drilling down through multiple search categories using multiple mouse clicks, instead of just visually scanning a single display page with one's eyes to quickly and efficiently find what one came looking for in the first place.]

I remember when newer was better, or at least not worse.

The trend seems to be form over function in most things anymore.

I sent customer service a contact message with a link to this thread and a comment that several people were saying they weren't going to buy from KEH anymore. I also called it a triumph of form over function.

I have been a long time customer of KEH and have rarely had an issue with their products or services. But the way I browse the items for sale now compared to how easy it once was makes it nearly impossible to deal with. Good thing I am pretty much stocked up on gear, I find the new site a nightmare.

I'm now exclusively shopping their kehoutlet eBay account. At least, I can see the exact item I intend to purchase, if I go that route.

I don't know why they don't photograph the item when they inventory it. I would not even mind something that was lower res as long as it identified the product and gives an idea of its condition. Just got a SA 90mm f8 in BGN and it has slight separation issues which would have been nice to know about before I picked it. Yes the new site does not work and totally blows. I end up googling with keh as a keyword or through site:keh.com as a search modifier as the built in keh search is so useless.

KEH got back to me:

"We are sorry you feel that way however we respect your right to choose.

Thank you for letting us know."

My favourite part of the old site, was being able to select the product line and then search through that. Now I have to scroll down or go back to the start to check out different parts of the same system.

Before: Medium Format>Bronica>GS1>select your wants (lenses, hoods, backs etc); if you wanted to backtrack, the side menu allowed for this.

Now: Medium Format Lenses or Medium Format and you can't search the other from within the results - bleh!

Keh, if you're there, re-instate the drop down menu on the LHS: Shop By Category. Currently it is a useless heading that does zilch. It's a wonderful example of form over function; redesigning a website is a great idea to improve your online presence, but why make it more time-consuming to navigate, when the original site had excellent features that could be integrated without losing functionality and usability.

Apple had the right idea with the iPod - nothing more than 2 (or was it 3?) clicks away from the home screen. Make it easy to use and the customers will come; not a convoluted mess that drives them away.

The website is really annoying. I'm not sure what their motivation could possibly be.
