KEH feedback please

Monday I placed an order with KEH for many, many inexpensive things. My credit charge has a pending charge for the $146.86. And today, Tuesday, I get an email that 'you forgot something' and that I 'forgot' to check out!!! When I try to reorder (but, hopefully, not pay AGAIN) I get told that the stuff is sold out.

I have had problems in the past with their website and I am waiting for a response from KEH. Sometimes, in life, things are too good to be true, but I have had my share of problems with their website. Anyone else? -David Lyga.

Again, this is not the first time and in the future I think that calling might be best, but first, I need my money refunded. I'm not sure how the credit card company could have a pending charge if you had not completed the transaction.

Wish I could help. I never had a problem before their website change a few years ago, but the new one was so poor I stopped using them altogether (plus they asked for feedback/opinions then told my my opinion was wrong).

I think your idea of calling them is good. I'd think it would be resolved a lot quicker if you spoke with a human.

I've had issues over the years . KEH isn't the gold mine it once was . David , if you see someone lurking around your place I wouldn't worry too much . I don't think there's many dangerous folks on this site . Crazy , maybe , but probably pretty harmless .

I have never bought anything through them, but I'd advise you to call KEH and have your order ID ready. Check your online bank statement to make sure you have been billed or not, and convey that information when you can get a rep on the phone.

I have had ugly people in my life since first grade (1956) and, by now, even if there WERE ugly people trolling me, I am used to it. I specialize in DISinformation. My 50 passwords are so carefully encrypted that you would have to work for the CIA to even taste a tiny bit of how to crash them.

I am thrilled that not only I have had problems. In life, I am used to always being determined as wrong. For once, I am not alone, here. I have a feeling that my two treacherous emails to KEH and my call later on will solve things, but one thing is for sure: they are not going to get away with telling me that I did anything wrong. The order was placed and that is that. My $146.86 will be refunded if I have to take a Greyhound down to Georgia and demand such. David Lyga has spoken. - David Lyga

I've ordered from them several times in the past 8 years or so. Never a problem.

As KEH send you a Bill they accepted your order and a contract has been made between you and them. From then on they are liable to send you the stuff. Otherwise they are liable to either send you similar stuff or refund you a price difference if you have to buy that stuff from another source at higher price.
This is on the asumption that german civil law in such case is similar to US law.

I do not understand that not logging out thing. Anyway, it has no legal implication.

My guess is that it was a problem with the email, not the order.
Or, is there any chance you have duplicate accounts with them, and put the same items in both of your "shopping carts"?

I don't think KEH is what it used to be. I've used them for over 20 years with satisfaction until the apparent change in ownership. Life is different now. For example I ordered a flash listed in Excellent condition; the flash I received was usable, but hardly in the E condition. KEH did accept my return and shipped me the same flash in E condition, but billed me for the price difference. Not good public relations, IMHO. The new site I find far less convenient than the old version. When I placed an order by phone I commented on the new site, he said that many customers weren't happy with the new site.

Well no wonder I can rarely find that stuff. My last haul of bargain items was years ago - 49mm filters that couldn't be sold. I paid $2 each and skipped out very happily.

I think KEH used to be better than they are now. I bought an F3HP and a 50 mm f/1.8 both in Exc or Exc+ condition (don't remember which), and the lens was about perfect, the body, less so. I returned the body, kept the lens. I've had various problems with their website, too, not adding things to my basket. A phone call is in order.

purchased the years before that ( going back to the early/mid 1990s )
never had a problem.
i'd just give them and your cc company a call
im sure its just a glitch ...
it was a full moon recently ...

I didn't like their website design initially but have managed to navigate it better and have since gotten used to it.

I have ordered a bit from them - and other sites for older camera stuff, and hands down they have provided better than I expected. I received a defective item once and it was promptly corrected to my advantage. I might think I'm just lucky if it only happened a few times but many successful transactions later and it just can't be coincidence anymore.

I just use their site for window-shopping then, order by phone; In my experience their product and customer service are excellent.
