I purchased from SouthPoint Photo a box of 4 x 10L of 8415580 Kodak RT- replenisher for RA-4 developer. They assured me it was fresh.

How do I know the manufacture or expiration date on this.? the only numbers I see on the box itself are 1228 E1 0233 ,
and on the chemical containers on Part A I see 1228 C1 01014 and on part C 1228 E1 00933 part b does not have any numbers.

By the way, Is Part A supposed to be dark in color. Like dark amber. I don't remember this from the first lot I purchased a while back.

thanks in advance,

Very definitely not! Part A when fresh is about the same colour as champagne so if it has gone to a dark amber colour then it is not long for this world. It may just work but the shelf life of the made up solutions will be very much reduced To be honest it is past it's sell by date by a long chalk.

I don't know what your consumer laws are over there, but in UK it should be returned to the supplier and they must sell you goods that are of 'Merchantable Quality' or refund your money. In other words they must be fault free and fit to use.

I use the same chemicals for my RA4 and I am on the last mix of the replenisher which is now over 18 months old (Since I opened it) and it is not much darker in colour than it was before I opened the bottle. So I would hazzard a guess that yours is several years older than this.

Thank you. The vendor has agreed to ship me a new box replacement. Hopefully the new one will be fine. Not that I have been buying this stuff for a long time , but it is harder and harder to get it. I had a box in backorder in Calumet Photo since April which I finally decided to cancel it to go for this one.

The Vendor is changing his story now. They are saying that Part A is dark that this is a new formula by Kodak and they will not send a replacement. This is Southpoint Photo Supply . Are they trying to ditch me ? Is this a responsible vendor ?.

The latest RA4 dev I've got is in (there was a url link here which no longer exists). Part A is not dark. Would a photo of the bottle help? It's the smaller 5L bottle.

I think it's the part B you should be worrying about. If it is charcoal black, you can toss it. I believe parts A and C should be quite stable.
