Ian stayed at our house for the last couple of days. My wife and I were regaled with many stories and shown a box of Ian's stunning prints. Erna and I are thinking maybe it's time to make a trip across the pond and do some photography in golly old England. I have a number of friends here on APUG that I could visit or maybe we could all just do a big meet up.

Something to plan towards.

Eric

Ian visited me for a few hours, we had a nice pizza and beer and traded stories..

What a lucky guy you are. That sounds like a fantastic visit you had!

Wait a minute if we keep praising Ian , the next time I visit UK I will not be able to visit him as his head will be too big to fit in the door.

You know its funny I have corresponded with Ian over 14 years now, he has helped me on many occasions and when meeting him I was surprised.

I was expecting a very tall , primly dressed British dude with a monocle about 75 years old, well I was completely wrong. I thought he would want
a spot of tea and a crumpet, but he was very cool with pizza and beer.

Was the beer at just slightly cooler than room temperature?

Wish I could meet both you and Ian and Eric as well.

He did not insist , but I found it quite odd that we were in an italian restaurant and he demanded Crumpets with his beer.

Funny people you folks from the UK

Eric and I had a great time visiting with Ian, we went on a photo trip to Kananaskis.

Nice one Craig, hope Eric gave you that print It's in the DCB Ed 3 & 4 Any chance I can have higher res copies of the photos, I think 2 aren't showing, my email address is on my profile. I'vwe some nice images to print.

As Craig kows my Gossen SBC ended up in Jura Creek, it did dry out and works fine but the water shorting across the battery created enough heat to distort were the battery cover fits. My nieces Icelandic husbands knife fied that @).

I missed this post before they don't have WiFi or mobile coverage where I went next in BC (Echo Lake) after leaving Eric, it's almost stone age up there. The trails were all closed because of bear activity.

It's true I asked Bob for crumpet with my beer, (the Donald Trump long legged type), but there's no native Blondes in the Italian (Siscilian) area Bob hangs around in.

It was good meeting Bob, Eric and Craig, it was flying family visit for my nephews wedding but there is a need to network and meet others from this Forum from around the world. I met two members of the LFPF in Barcelona about 5 years ago, I ground the Spanish member a 10x8 screen in my hotel room, then we went eating & drinking with a US member also there.

Eric & I talked about a possible trip to Dorset/Cornwall and It would be great to put something together with some APUG members from Canada/US. There's some APUG members in Cornwall. Maybe we should make it happen next year.

Ian

Ian,

Great to meet you too. I sent an email through the contact section of your website, as I didn't see your email in your profile, just the website.
I still have to develop my film from the trip, hopefully this weekend. Glad your meter still works, at least it went into clean water!

As a rule I am surprised if I have mobile coverage in the mountains, generally there is just a strip along the Trans Canada highway with coverage, and even there there are lots of places where there is no coverage.

You guys live in almost paradise Craig. I'm not sure where else in the world you can have it all a great summer and winter well for winterbsports. My nephew has travelled widely and thinks Calgary is about te best plcae on earth, It also has a great resource "The Camera Store" best camera shop I've seen in many years such great staff and what you need as well.

Wait a minute! If he didn't match the above description then who the hell was the Ian Grant who gave a great talk at the East Midlands Monochrome Group meeting last October?
