Hi All

First post and first experience with Canon rangefinders.

Have bought a Canon L3, and a Jupiter-8 50mm f2 for it has just arrived.

When I screw the lens on, it only screws in one 360 degree turn and stops. Seems to be one more turn short of reaching the back of the lens (about 2mm as far as I can measure it).

Is this normal or do I have a problem?

Regards

Tim

The first thing that comes to my mind is a dent at the lens thread

I just tried to screw my Jupitor 8 into my Canon P and it wouldn't go at all until I focused the lens to its closest focus, like 1.5m, then it screwed on fine.

Thanks for the replies.

Turns out the thread was not clean, and a bit of elbow grease managed to clear it. Suspect the lens was new (or old and the thread had been repainted). Was a bi reluctant to force it at first, but this problem solved.

Now need to get the top plate off the L3 to clean the viewfinder.

Regards
Tim
