There is a great story about 96 year old Julius Shulman in October's Dwell Magazine (sorry, just got a moment to read this 2 month old mag.) He was (& is still active) a great architectural photographer w/many iconic images.

I have a couple of his how to books on architectural photography & they are very useful despite being somewhat dated. (There is one where he refers to the Canon AE-1 as an amazing space age camera). The interesting thing about him is that he was largely self taught & was recognised early as having a good eye. Ezra Stoller is another good one to look at for buildings.

I've been traveling and missed the news of his death. Shulman's images were as much works of art as the Modernist American architecture he captured. I would go as far as to say that in many instances, it is his photographs that form our collective memory of that highly idealized era of Americana.

98... A life to be celebrated.

Bravo!
