There was a message on the Alt-photo-process-list altphotolist.org that Judy Seigel has died this week on May 10, 2017. She was a well known person in the world of alt-photo. She was also known for her wonderful magazine: The World Journal of Post-Factory Photography. (9 issues, Click here to download Issue 1).

Here is a message from her daughter:

"Judith Seigel July 20, 1930-May 10, 2017. Artist, photographer, writer,
publisher, editor, pioneering woman artist, teacher, Village firebrand and
activist.

My mother always said would never leave Morton Street except feet first.
Yesterday, she did, after dying quietly at home asleep in her own bed.
Feeling sadly joyful for such a peaceful finale to a long, good life and
that I was able to help carry her out, indeed, feet first.

Funeral services 10 a.m. Sunday, Riverside Memorial Chapel.
"

The funeral will be Sunday May 14, 10 AM Riverside Memorial Chapel, 76th Street and Amsterdam, Manhattan.

Judy was a super person. Very friendly and not shy abut giving of herself and techniques. I met her in mid 70 at her brownstone house in NYC. After a morning chat about Alt Photo she invited my wife and I to join her for lunch in THE VILLAGE.

My contacts with her were only through email, and I found her kind and helpful. Her magazines pushed me to alt processes. I also admired her sticking with Pine.
My condolences to her family
