when i saw these photographs the first time, it was my junior year of college.
i had 3 classes that day, they were all LONG classes, and death was the general theme.
the first one was all the glass plate images of the civil war battle field dead.
the second one was a class on the genocide, and along with these images
we saw many others together with oral histories from the survivors of the
death marches in the syrian desert.
and then ... jeffrey silverthorne presented our class with his b/w portraits of
people who died of unknown causes - morgue portraits.
it was hard to take all of it in one day ...
unfortunately, i couldn't make it to see jeffrey silverthorne's color work.
