I like the subtle dig he gives in that clip (after seeing Robert Frank work) - "I'd never seen a real photographer work - I'd seen fashion photographers, but never a real photographer..."
Aside from the writing--and cartoons, of course--The New Yorker consistently features some of the best photography you'll see damned near anywhere in a magazine.
Thanks for the link! I watched 4 'episodes" yesterday -- the fellow using flash in peoples' faces was a bit of a jerk, IMO, and the results tended to show it.
You mean Bruce Gilden? I'm not too much a fan of his streetwork, but bless his chutzpah! He is unrepentant and comes off like a supreme jerk, but I wish I had even half of of his daring.
Interesting - I have to admit I was only familiar with Ms. Mark from her studio portraits using the Polaroid 20x24, which I find quite well done. I wasn't aware she did street photography as well.
