Jobo LPL c7700 power supply

I need some help, just recieved an old LPL enlarger w out power supply, I have sourced a new one at 500€+, any ideas on what I can use as alternative to buying a new one, I'm in Germany w 220 electric. Thx for any help

If you are not in a hurry there is a company called Second Hand Darkroom Supplies. They deal mainly in good used darkroom equipment and often have spare parts for enlargers. At the moment they are closed for a reorganisation of the company offices and website and will be reopening on the 4th February 2020. You may be able to adapt another transformer 22ov/50c but I always feel that something will always work better with the original equipment. They are not as expensive as some companies and |I have used them for several years without a problem.

Thanks allot, I'll check them out. There are a few on eBay from England , but w 240v ,can I use a step converter w this?

Germany years ago changed to 230V.
(The original power supply thus would not have been the optimum solution anyway.)

As long as the supply is only for the lamp a plain transformer for the respective voltages and output is sufficient.
Indicator lamps, ventilators, AF, etc, may complicate the situation, but do not apply in your case to my understanding of the 7700.

Agx, thanks for the info, so I really can just use an off brand transformer to regulate the voltage from the lamp, no need to buy another LPL power supply?

Yes, a plain transformer, with a fixed output voltage would do.

Our american fellows likely will advise a voltage stabilizer.
But that only makes sense in case voltage fluctuations at your place are of that kind that the voltage either during single printing or during the session changes to that extent that one either could not do single printing as voltage changes after metering, or no prints in succession with same basic filtration. Typically over here voltage is stable. Unless you got large, intermittant drains around you. You could check this with a colour-meter at your enlarger.

You need 230V AC in and 12V or 24V AC out (depending on the type lamp used)

I happened to be in the same boat as you @rbguff , a while ago: https://www.photrio.com/forum/threads/lpl-7700-transformer-issues.168760/#post-2195706 which turned out to be a bit of a long-winded journey.

Long story short, I found another transformer, search for LPL Kindermann 707 on the auction site for example. As often, it was not only the transformer, it came with the enlarger head too, so I have enough spare parts to last me a hundred years.

As an aside, I have a spare parts transformer (Block ST 100/23/12 transformer) still in its box that with some work will be perfect for your LPL. Send me a message if that is of any interest to you.

I had good experiences with Secondhand Darkroom in the UK, they are first rate.

230V AC - 12V AC 100W transformers were common for interior lighting when halogen lamps were still in fashion.
One may also consider a switching power supply for same use.

That voltage was/is the optimum with 1st class wiring with good contacts at the end and anywhere in between. The museum where I work whilst the wire circuit is good and up to date when the rest of the site was on full demand, the actual voltage dropped to 195V AC. Shut units off some off and the voltage went back up to 230V

That would step down to 110 or from 110 up to 200/220/240. Not what you need to get to 12 or 24 unless you have an additional 110 to 12/24 xformer.
Why not scoot over to aliexpress and get yourself an affordable meanwell smps for 12 or 24v? Costs like €20 and you're done.

Hey Jervevan, thanks for the response, I found my Jobo LPL on local eBay for 80€ but come to find out no power supply, happy w the deal , but a pain to find PS here in Köln, found a few in UK and US 30-40$, so will use my step transformer w one of these I guess. It seems the LPLc7700 was marketed under many names. Thanks again to all for the info, such a great site and community

Hi! I had the same problem... got my LPL a month a go and came here asking for advice.
I end up building mine, some people said that a modern DC power supply would work...

Hallo Jerevan, you mentioned using a Kinderman 707 power supply w the Jobo LPL 7700, I was so happy to find one on eBay, got it today and low and behold it only accepts two prong plug from the enlarger, my Jobo has a cord three prong plug what to do now? Can I simply splice a two prong on to my Jobo cord, and where might I find this...any help or advice appreciated

I have used one of these for many years... the same one for about 18 years actually (basing that on when we moved here!)
