Jobo CPE-2 Plus VS. a plain CPE-2?

Does anyone know the difference between these two processors? They appear to be exactly the same. For example, Jobo's "starter kit" contains the same accessories in both models. I would assume the plain CPE-2 is an earlier model than the "Plus" version but does anyone know the details? Thanks in advance.

I asked JOBO...

The CPE-2 has two rotation speeds. The "plus" has only one, sincec they always recommended the maximum speed.

I have found the slower speed to be just right for BW sheet film development in paper drums...

Yes I remember the slow speed. I used to use it for paper processing. I think that was what they recommended it for. I guess the fast speed works just as well for paper, but the machine makes more noise then.

I recall reading somewhere that the CPE-2 Plus also has a button for reseting the thermal overload switch. The older CPE-2 had to have the motor unit replaced if it overloaded.

Hi !
The major difference is that the CPE is not repairable anymore as the firm making the motor is no longer in business. They had to find a substitute and the new motor is too different to fit an old CPE.
Some CPE have the thermal overheat switch installed (mine does) (I think some local regulation required it, and when they made the PLUS version they decided to make it a standard fit).
So if you plan to buy one second hand, be sure the motor is fine and the price is low, because if the motor fails, the whole thing will go to the trash.
