JOBO CPA motor

Hello everyone.

I'm new here. Thanks to receive me, and thanks for that forum. Nice to see a so active analogue community.
I'm from Portugal... Please apologize my English..

I recently bought a old JOBO CPA and just entered the crazy world of colour printing.

The JOBO is in very good shape, temperature control is very accurate and the water pump works fine (maybe should be cleaned to work smoother)

The motor works in the two different speeds, but seems to have some kind of power lack... and at position II (the faster one) works slower in one direction than the other.

Also the drum (I'm using a 2830) is not completely horizontally and don't rotate smoothly

I'm uploading a foto of the magnet and will share 2 videos to let you see whats happening. Maybe you could tell what to do, if it it's necessary. I'm worry if that affects the print results... I'm new and I'm not sure if the quite bad results I got are result of my inexperience in colour enlargement yet, or if it caused by that issues with the motor / drum rotation and subsequent chemistry agitation.

Remove and inspect the drive magnet. The magnet is glued to the plastic and may be loosened. No idea on the speed difference. That's a very old machine. Still it will probably work as is for prints.

Gonna clean it and put some new oil

Other situation: seems the problem of a non linear rotation of the drum stay in the magnet... It is misalign...
How to disassemble it??

I'm curious if the motor speeds are constant in both directions while it's out of the machine? You want to put a bit of a load(holding the shaft)
on it as it rotates. If my failing memory is correct(?) there is a windshield wiper motor that could be substituted. I believe it's somewhere on this site.

Just oil the plastic gears.
Seems the speed stays the same. A quite faster in one direction than the other as previously. But sounds good.

Concerning the magnet driver, I just gave a kicks and broke it!
Seems it was glued one day. I glued it again and it gets better... But it brokes again when installed at the JOBO.... Let's see what gonna do...

Very kind. Gave me the contact of Mr Klaus, a known guy from JOBO as I read here in other post.
I live in Portugal and I want to avoid import duties from America.

Update.
Once the drive magnet is out, I tried to measure the RPM are speed 1 and 2 in both directions.
Here are the result:

Speed 1
37 RPM Clockwise
29 RPM Counterclockwise

Speed 2
43 RPM Clockwise
62 RPM Counterclockwise

Clockwise the speed is near the same.
Counterclockwise we can see a real difference between speed 1 and 2.

Anyone can confirm?

Hello everyone,

No one had the chance to verify the CPA drive speeds?

About the drive magnet issue, I think I will need to buy myself a new one... And it will be not very easy...
I only found it at CatLabs, but I would like to avoid import duties to Europe and get one here.
Omer from CatLabs told me about Mr Klaus Seynsche from fotolaborservices in Germany but he doesn't have one...
Does anybody know where to find it in Europe? JOBO certainly doesn't have too... I will contact them anyway...

Seems I got a used CPE-2 drive magnet with a 6mm motor shaft holder which will fit the old CPA! That's cooool!!!

Anyway, I got an additional CPE-2 processor in a "garage sale" with a lot of extras... 2 Drums (2840 and 2840), paterson system 2000 (timer and also the colour analyser), varioformat, test print, JOBO 2400 film tank.. and other items... Well... Don't know really what to do... But I guess I will sold the old CPA. I don't plan to print larger photos than 30x40 (cms). I will try to find a way to manually process 40x50 manually one day that I will need it.

What electrical cause could there be if a DC motor runs at different speeds at the two directions, if direction change is made by reversing polarity?

At least with the more modern Jobo processors the motor IS that of a windscreen wiper.
