Hi All! I've been using my Jobo and noticing when I pour in a new liquid, a very small amount (maybe 1-5ml) seems to come out of the drain on the lift (not the drain on the bottom of the water bath), this is fine if I'm fast enough to swap out the pitcher I am dumping my reusable chemicals into (c41 developer and blix) or if I am using them as a 'one-shot," but last night I had some developer I intended to re-use and I had the pitcher under the drain, full of the developer I had just poured out of the drain from the lift into the 1L pitcher, and when I poured in the blix, some of the blix came out of the drain at the same time, just a few drops, but enough to contaminate my developer (at least I think.)

Is this normal?

If you have the manual it warns about pouring too fast. Remember, back in the heyday, the automatic versions pumped the solutions through very tiny tubes and filling the tank took some time and results were fine. You don't need to go much faster than that when pouring.

Ok good to know! I have this fear of: "If I don't get that liquid in there at absolute LIGHT SPEED, it's going to throw my dev time off." So it's ok to take 15-30 seconds to pour in? Do I start my timer the second the first drop hits, or after the last drop has made it in? Thanks!

You are pouring too fast. Pour more slowly.

Pouring in and draining the chemicals are assumed to last about 10 sec. by Jobo. These 2 x 10 sec. are included in the times already, no adjustment needed.

I take a constant 8 seconds for the refill with the next solution. I dump fast 8 seconds early and then pour over 8 seconds.
