Hello all,

I will be purchasing a Jobo ATL 1000 later this week. The seller says he has a Multitank 2 he is including, but he cannot find his larger drums. He also mentioned that this one needs the "cog-headed" tanks. After much research on the internet and looking at the ATL 1000 manual, I still have questions and I was wondering if someone could give me a quick rundown on this machine.

My main questions:

What are the names/numbers of each tank the ATL 1000 will hold and how many rolls of 35mm/120/4x5 will each tank hold?
What are the names of the different reels? I will mainly be doing 35mm, 120, and 4x5.
Does anyone know about the Chinese "Poilot" tanks that are showing up one ebay, and which machines they are compatible with? Has anyone used them? Such as "Poilot P2550 Multitank5"
Do I really need temperature-controlled water? My darkroom is in an outside shed without running water, I have been using one 5 gallon water jug for clean water and one for waste, but I do not really have a way of temperature controlling them.

Also any other information would be helpful. I have looked at other threads but still need a little more information. Thanks to all.

For the ATL-1000, the 2500 series tanks are really what you want. The one you'll probably use the most is the one that holds two 35mm reels or one 120 reel and comes with a spacer for use with one 35mm reel. The tempered water is really for rinse temp -- the ATL-1000 will raise the chemistry to 100 deg F for color, so as long as you aren't using ice-cold rinse water, you should be fine. For B&W, the machine doesn't temper the chemistry -- you are responsible for getting it to 68 deg F. The numbers for the tanks and reels should be online someplace. The 4x5 one is 2509n and comes with two "wings" to lock the film into place -- it does up to 6 sheets at a time.

Thanks, this info really helped:

The 2500 system tanks are available in the following capacities:

  • Multitank 1 #2540 - single 35mm roll
  • Multitank 2 #2520 - 2 rolls or up to 6 sheets of 4X5
  • Multitank 5 #2550 - 5 rolls of 35mm or 6 rolls of 120 or 12 sheets of 4x5
  • Multitank 6 #2560 - 6 rolls of 35mm or 8 rolls of 120 or 12 sheets of 4x5
  • Multitank 8 #2560 - 8 rolls of 35mm or 10 rolls of 120 or 18 sheets of 4x5
Reels:
  • 2502 adjustable reels for 35/120 roll film include duo-tab system for safe loading of 2 rolls of 120 film on each reel without risk of overlapping
  • 2509n reels for up to 6 sheets of 4X5 film
The tempered water is really for rinse temp -- the ATL-1000 will raise the chemistry to 100 deg F for color, so as long as you aren't using ice-cold rinse water, you should be fine.

Awesome thank you, that's what I was wondering.

One more question, am I able to use all of the Multitanks with the ATL-1000? It seems shorter like it has a shorter space for the drum than the CPE/CPA processors.

I received the Jobo and everything is working great. I had originally only planned on using it for color and continuing doing B&W by hand, but after trying it with the Jobo a few times I will probably use this machine for both (not sure how I ever managed without it honestly).

Anyways, I made a chart in Excel detailing the actual times for the different B&W programs instead of "+5% of 8 min", as I was getting tired of calculating it each time to find the in-between times. I hope someone else will find it useful!

Hi all, i’m in the same situation, looking at an ATL 1000, but wondering whether the Multitank 5 will fit the machine. Does anyone have any info they can share? Thanks
