I am using a Jobo 2509n reel to process my 4x5 film.

I am doing (gentle) inversions and not using the 4x5 insert holder things.

I have used some J&C film, Ekfe 100 film, and Fuji Acros film.

All of the film scratches where the film is held in place by little triangles (if you have a reel you know what I mean).

I am also using Kodafix fixer, which has a hardener.

Anyone else having this problem?

Have you tried using the inserts? The only thing I can think of is the film is moving during the inversions. Even gentle inversions are going to be mini-tidal waves. Those tanks hold lots of liquid.

There ought to be some good stuff on this in the archives, it came up a couple of years ago.

Mine work fine unmodified, in an ATL processor with the wings - only 250ml of fluid though. As a hand tank it is a different issue with lots of fluid.

Well, I just did another 3 sheets of Efke 100 with gentle inversions and this time with the emulsion in and the film appears to be okay.

I put the notches at the top of the reel. I swear I did this before. Maybe not.

I use the Jobo 2509n with the Jobo CPE 2 (one speed - fast) for as many as four sheets of 4x5 without the bat wings or whatever they're called. I use the inner most and outer most tracks. I choose not to do six sheets at a time.
And yes, the emulsion side goes inward, away from the walls.
