Hi! I was given a JML Processing Lens 8.25 f8, apertures up to 45.It attaches to a board with a handle to change apertures. On the OTHER side is another lens on which is handwritten EFL-210.8 s/n 2965. Do these 2 lenses work together? It's totally unlike my 35mm and med format enlarger lens setup. From searching, I think it is an enlarger lens for large format. I only shoot up to medium format. Is this anything that will help me, or should I just pass it on. It looks to be in good condition...
Thanks!
Cynthia

Likely you could enlarge 5x7 or 4x5 negatives with these. Also could likely be used on 5x7 or 4x5 view camera if mounted in a shutter.

This is a copy or process lens. These were used in industrial applications. The "EFL-210.8" on the back part is the effective, or exact focal length (of the whole lens). Many of these lenses are converted to use in large format cameras. But JML is not one of the well known / sought after brands.

The lens is really no different than a 35mm or medium format lens. it has a front lens group and a rear lens group. There is an adjustable iris in the middle. Many copy, process, enlarging, and large format lenses are designed so that the front and rear assemblies will unscrew from the barrel. This allows them to be mounted in either a barrel or a shutter. Not all of them fit standard sized shutters though.

If you take apart a lens from a hasselblad or Mamiya rb, you will see that internally they use virtually the same copal, compur, or seikosha shutter that are used in large format lenses.

And to answer your question, It will be pretty useless for 35mm or medium format enlarging, as the height of the enlarger required would be very high. And the max aperture of f8 is pretty dim for enlarging.

What do you want for it? Sounds like something I would have a use for (real or made up). I'd be happy to take it off your hands.
