I really am perfectly happy with where I live right now. The photo opportunities are terrific and the people density is very, very low. But once in awhile, and this is one, I wish I could easily drive into San Fran for some of these exhibitions.

Maybe I'll hop the Amtrack and come over for a week when SF MOMA opens up again.

Visited the gallery this past weekend. I've walked by that place countless times but never ventured inside!

I very much enjoyed the exhibit. The venue is small, clean and quiet. In addition to the photo exhibit there is a bookshelf full of great photo books for sale and, of course, a fantastic selection of Leica gear old and new. Thankfully, the sales staff recognized that I was really only there to see the photo exhibit and left me alone. They seemed low key and respectful.

I'm always amazed at the access that Marshall was afforded. His bio portrays him as an ordinary guy who worked hard and didn't give up. I admire that. His photography is intimate and personal and I wonder how he built such trust and rapport with his subjects. I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to view this body of work. Thanks again Rory for the heads-up and for your efforts to make some of the prints.

Glad you enjoyed it Brad. He was a hard working guy, bombastic with a heart of gold.
I took my studio gear to the gallery today and photographed his Leicas and his address book. Wow, there are some names in there! And I was tickled so see my own number in it...
I'll post the Leice pictures when I get them processed.

Ctein was kind enough to show me some of the dye transfer prints which he printed for Marshall. It doesn't get much more psychedelic than
that in terms of hue reproduction. I interacted with that crowd only in terms of certain supplies for stage building, sets, etc, along with
remodels of some of their private digs. A nasty batch, always infighting. The few surviving ones have their brains largely fried by now.
