Why is it that makes it your favorite? What do you like about it?

Define "best".

These are kinda vague, subjective terms.

== unusual signature
==was a surveillance film
==contrasty; good for old camera with low contrast lenses
==in both 35mm and 120 formats
==cheaper than Fuji Acros II :tongue:

At B&H, both films are exactly the same price.
Rollei Retro 400 can be had for several dollars less, and it can be described in nearly identical terms. I have yet to see any compelling evidence to persuade me that Street Pan is in any way superior to a number of similar films, or that it is somehow worth the premium price.

I'm not panning this film (geddit..?) but just wanted to know peoples' experiences and articulate thoughts after using it. Sort of the point of a discussion forum, after all.

If cost is a factor, then there's always bulk loading. The only way to go, IMHO but that's another topic. For me, I'd opt to support existing film manufacturers so we can still have them around in 5 years, rather than buying up old warehoused stock of films that'll soon enough go extinct. Again, that's my personal take on it and maybe another topic as well.

Superior? I wouldn't claim that is applicable to any film honestly. It just is unique in fact and I just prefer the look from that emulsion.

I actually buy both in fact. HP5 is my staple atm. Also Streetpan is new stock and manufactured in Belgium.

Is it really unique enough to justify $12/$13 per roll? I can almost buy two rolls of Delta 100 for the price of one roll of Street Pan.

And I can almost buy three rolls of .EDU Ultra 400 for $13.

Wow! You spend that much on film!
I just buy it by the 100' roll and roll my own.....and I dont have a M camera, actually mostly use cameras that cost less than $50. Proof that you don't need to spend much money to make very ordinary street shots.

I didn't say I spend that much -- my .EDU Ultra 400 comes off a bulk roll that cost me $51 and free shipping from B&H, so I actually paid roughly $3 per 36 roll. But as far as I know, JCH films aren't sold in bulk rolls.

Here in the U.K. JCH Streetpan is approximately the same price as Lomo Metropolis, that is also too expensive to be a regular film.
It seemed to me the YouTube video was a sales pitch.
