It is worthwhile reading through the obituaries/tribute pieces in the Guardian that were written about her when she died.
I saw the recent documentary about her - "Looking For Light - Jane Bown" in 2014 at the Vancouver International Film Festival. It was very interesting and quite well made. It appealed to me more than it did to my wife, no doubt because there is a lot of interest to photographers. Not least because she herself is in her own biography.
I came fairly late to appreciate her. I wish I had known more about her earlier.
Ironically, one of the reasons I learned about her was that she and I share a liking for a favorite lens - the Olympus Zuiko 85mm f/2 - as well as a favorite camera system - the Olympus OMs.
It is strange how we stumble upon these bits of knowledge.
