Hi All,
I've been waiting for someone to start a cottage industry with dry plates, and it's as cool as I thought it could be. J. Lane Dry Plates are a direct-connection time machine back to the earliest days of silver gelatin photography (c.1880). There were hundreds of small plate-making businesses started to jump on the incredible technological advantage of dry plate over wet plate.
Here's more information: http://www.thelightfarm.com (top of the home page), including a Facebook link. If you're on Facebook, be sure to like and share the page. Congrats! Mr. Lane.

Thanks, Denise. I really appreciate the support and encouragement that you and other folks in the community have provided. It's been a heck of a lot of fun so far, and I particularly enjoy tackling all the new issues that arise in stepping up my plate making volume to get them out to people, as odd as that may sound.

Time and weather finally aligned. I've tested a J. Lane dry plate and it's gorgeous! Drying now. Printing tomorrow.
Thanks!!!, Jason and again, congratulations.

Awesome!

If you get to Portland, Blue Moon Camera is selling them and the staff loves them too.

I'm sure the staff loves them!
Here are two prints from the same plate : gaslight paper and silver gelatin POP

Great news, congratulations indeed. From time to time I order some materials from freestyle. International shipping of glass plate would not be safe  But I wish I could have tried those plates.

Jason - contrats on the support and exposure from Freestyle! I got the email about your plates as well, so I guess they're blasting it out to most customers.

It'll be interesting to see how much your order requests increase. Hope you're ready to ramp up production....

Thanks guys.. yes I have been (happily) inundated with questions and interest since they blasted that email out. I am cranking out plates and can keep up well enough. Of course, the PHSNE show is this weekend *and* I’ll be on travel for my day job for a bit. So it is a little hectic but I like the pace and have “margin” for increased production. If demand ticks up then I may even get the opportunity to hire a local high school kid to help out.

Herzeleid..pm me about international shipping cost. I can probably get you a box or two shipped for a decent price.

Blue Moon Camera in Portland, OR also stocks the plates so be sure to throw them some love as well.

Bought a box at Blue Moon this afternoon!

Keep going guy! How would you like and ISO 400+ emulsion formula?

PE

Absolutely!

Ron, I may very well be up in Rochester on travel for a few days within the next two weeks. Customer wants me to oversee alignment of optical assemblies for my space station camera lens design. The trip is still being finalized (a last minute request from them), but it’ll either be this coming week or next. Would love to say hi while I’m up there. I’m going to ping Mark Osterman as well once travel plans are finalized (tho I expect he’ll be busy). My days will be busy but I’m hoping to be free one evening.

Jason, I'm not going anywhere soon, literally. I'll be here and we can discuss high speed formulas. Mark and Nick were here on Thursday but have a lot going on at GEM. Give me a call or give them a call. Maybe we can all get together.

Best wishes.

Ron
