I've got GAS. Please help me decide. Perkeo I vs Ercona I to part with

I've really got to let things go. They don't get used. I've got a canon t90 that I've had to "demagnetize" numerous times from disuse, and it's one of my favorite cameras. A big warning sign that I've become a collector instead of a photography hobbyist.

Ercona I has 6x9 size advantage. Perkeo is amazingingly small for a 120. I only have a max of 6x6 for printing, but can scan 6x9 just fine.

Both have been serviced by certo6 (jurgen) and are in good working order and comparable (nice) condition, have original cases and I think lens hoods for both. It's been so long since I've used either I can't find any photos that I know were taken by either. Does the "color skopar" have better coatings or is that just a fancy name? I've linked to both.

First of all GAS is good!

I have brought Certo cameras from Jurgen and was very happy with both.

Hmm -- I have the II models of each and I use the Perkeo much more than the Ercona. I believe the lens names are more or less just the different manufacturer's names for similar designs. Both seem to give respectable results for me. If I were faced with reducing the herd, I would lean toward keeping the Perkeo because it's more compact and you get 12 exposures on a roll. However, the bellows on the Ercona is a bit more pristine, and sometimes all that 6x9 negative real estate is appealing ... (But in 6x6 here there's also a fair set of Bronica gear and a Yashica TLR.)

As noted, I do use all my modest collection -- at least once a year or so. The Next Big Trip is a couple of months away and I'm wrestling with what gear will go. It's overseas, a group tour, and we're traveling with two other couples we know, a sort of thing I don't find works all that well for for "serious" photography. That plus the potential airport CT scan issues might lead to skipping a film camera, but if one does go it will mostly likely be the Perkeo. So not likely any current gear will be sold until age and decrepitude of the photographer increases a bit.

Of course it's quite personal which camera and format to perfer. But one thing I've found increasingly important is my ability/unability to hold my camera steady while make an exposure. I've found this much easyier with a 6x6 folder than with any 6x9 folder. Incidentally I also feel the Voigtlander quality control perhaps may have been a bit more stringent than at Zeiss?

I try to keep track of what I'm using on a yearly basis. Anything not used within a year (with the exception of cameras I've inherited) goes to ebay for someone else to enjoy.

Use them both for a month. One should stand out after that time period if you shoot a couple of rolls each week. Don't forget to develop the rolls and make contact sheets each week. If they are still equal in your mind after that period then keep them, or sell them, both.
