“Multiples” is an exhibition of traditional photographic prints, all made by hand in the darkroom or by using historical darkroom processes.
The theme of “Multiples” can allude to many concepts and techniques: multiple exposures, composites and photomontage have all been used throughout the history of photography to manipulate the truth of what the camera “sees”.
The exhibiting photographers will present their interpretation on the theme as well as photographs that explore their own individual interests.
Styles as diverse as portraiture, landscape, nature, street photography and photojournalism will all be represented.
The prints will go beyond quality black and white images into historical processes such as gum bichromate, cyanotype and lith printing. Viewers will be given an insight into the stunning detail that a true photographic print can render.
As an additional display, some photographers have chosen to compile their prints in hand-crafted books, made using traditional bookbinding techniques. These photo albums will show what can be done to create a unique presentation of images, designed to turn individual photographs into a treasured keepsake.
Official Opening of the 15th Annual Print Exhibition TDPG.
