Wow

Just... wow.

I reported in from Tacoma, WA 10 years ago yesterday as a new APUG member. (there was a url link here which no longer exists)

In those 10 years, I've pretty much just lurked but occasionally posted images and silly threads.

I love this place and miss some of the folks who used to hang about. Arigram (r.i.p.), eric, blansky... people like that. Some of the old guard still hang about and that's comforting. I just wish more people would post about interesting problems and less about stuff they are selling. That's just depressing.

Good man! Here's to another ten years in good APUG health!

Yes, it is depressing to see all this equipment posting carnival ... but hopefully some young'uns take care of it (or at least younger ones!).

Now get out and make some film manufacturer happy!

Ten years for me as well on 11/30. Makes me suspicious someone or something did something in the database. Or is it just a strange coincidence? Maybe there was a crash and restore at some point?

Good Evening, John,

Good to see a familiar name again. I plead innocent to posting sales messages; my GAS long ago morphed into GRS (Gear Retention Syndrome).

Hi SchwinnParamount,
I remember leaving Photo.net for good ten years ago. This place seemed like a safe haven comparatively...I think lots of us came in 2004. That's when APUG really started to get some recognition...wasn't it mentioned in some big name photo magazine in 2004 too? Anyway glad some of us are still around. Sad that others have left. Let's make the next ten years great.

Hi Brad,
Yeah, that sounds right. Maybe I read about APUG in Darkroom User? Possibly Shutterbug. At any rate, I've only met four APUGgers in person. BarryYoung (camera maker), JohnBerry, eric, and RobertBrummel. Eric turns out to be a really talented photographer and chef. When my mother had foot surgery and couldn't get on her feet for a week, Eric came to my parent's house and made a gorgeous 9 course meal (duck, swordfish...etc) for us.
Barry Young still lives in town. He's an extremely talented aerospace machinist who was playing around with building 8x10 cameras and film holders for a while. John Berry was a decorated Viet Nam vet who retired and dove into LF photography. Berry is the only one I know with an actual 8x10 enlarger. A beast of a machine, but steady as a rock. Robert has (according to rumor) abandoned film for the dark side.

Schwinn, I remember when you and Barry were making 8x10 cameras. I followed the several threads closely and lived a little bit vicariously though you guys. I remember thinking that the cameras you guys made turned out exceedingly well.

Dark, That would be interesting...and you've already done most of the work. Pity we don't have access to the database...well...maybe that's for the better.

Ask Sean. He might very well be keen to see the results.
