Why would you think that? I couldn't imagine a better object to crush roaches with.

F5s also make good door stops and wheel chocks.

It’s been sitting on this table untouched, and unmoved for three weeks now.

I really don't think this is a long length of time. I haven't shot a single photograph since September, but I'm a seasonal shooter and the shooting season for me is April - September. During the winter I do printing and projection. I would only think of getting rid of a camera if it has been unused for a year. I think our focuses change and right now the F5 isn't the tool you need, but it may be in 6 months. Put a roll of film in it, that may encourage you to pick it up.

If you are thinking of doing charity, you can donate this camera to the Egyptian Analog Club ,, and we will be very thankful to you ..
But I don't think you will ever consider doing that ..
There is only one (Rudi) only.

The egyptian analog club sounds cool. I always like Cairo as a city. Bit chaotic but very cool place. How easy is it to get film and paper in Egypt?

Hello brother.
Yes, there is some chaos in Cairo, but the presence of that fosha is like (salt) is necessary for food and it is impossible to be able to eat food without salt.
Also, Cairo, without some chaos you cannot live in it.
Some Swedish and Finnish young men who live a calm, orderly and disciplined life become depressed and contemplate suicide, and a psychologist in Sweden invented a new method, which is to send that suicide-thinking young man to a short visit to Egypt for a week, and whenever The young man lives for one week in Cairo and gets caught up in that chaos, and gives up the idea of suicide ,,
I met many of these young men in the vicinity of the pyramids, and one of them was looking for a film for the camera.
With regard to the availability of film and printing paper in Egypt. I regret to tell you that getting drugs in Egypt is much easier than getting a movie at a fair price.
We live in a real tragedy on this subject.
Yesterday I received a letter from a colleague (Karl) from Ireland, and he will send the club a gift (part of a reel) (Kodak Vision 3) of 75 feet. He will send it by post, which is very generous from him. We thank him for it.
Last month we received very generous assistance from the respected Austrian engineer (Rudolfu) and bought us a new computer and application license (Vuescan). God bless him.
And I never forget the scientific assistance that I receive every now and then from a Ukrainian colleague (VoVa), son of the saint (Yuri).
- Now we have a shortage of black and white films and I contacted (ORWO) North America branch, but they refused to deal with us from the ground up and said that they do not sell their products outside North America.
- The number of young people who are engaging in the hobby of analog photography in Egypt is increasing every day at a considerable rate, and the problem that we are really facing is that 90% of these amateurs are very poor.
- Egyptian society is divided into two segments, the rich segment, and those who refuse to join the analog club because they see that the majority of the members are poor and it is not permissible to approach these poor mobsters. They have a disgusting class view, and the other part is the poor amateur photographers and they are The most talented ones are good guys, most of whom are students in public universities.
I got so carried away, I apologize to everyone
Thank you

Hi Mohmad,

You might try here for Orwo http://www.filmotec.de/?lang=en

They are very friendly and nice people.

Yes Cairo is an excellent city for any photographer in my opinion - fun, friendly, very photogenic, full of energy, excellent coffee, very competitive prices compared to other capital cities. I remember I accidentally went into a bank headquarters looking for a cash machine - every day the manager of the bank would look out for me passing and we would have coffee and cake in the courtyard and a chat before he went back to work. Then around the corner from the bank, the same policeman would stop me every day for a chat and jokes. . Very civilised, very relaxed place.

Don't apologise, I am sure many board members will be interested to read about your society and the problems of running a film club in Africa. If i am ever in cairo again i will make sure to pay the club a visit.

It might be worth you creating a thread to showcase the club on here and update it with new work by members and donations.

, no brother ,,
I fear it is an inappropriate idea.
- We cannot write a post to solicit donations.
We are still a club under establishment from a legal point of view and we have no right to ask for donations.
We do not have an official headquarters yet ,, I use my house for that, I receive members and I prepare chemistry in the kitchen and develop films manually. I don't have a JOBO machine. I make a scan.

- From a legal and moral point of view, we cannot formally request donations from my family. All the assistance we get is personally.
- The general legal framework on which we aspire to establish the club, it is (a cooperative society),
The cooperative society is the most appropriate legal organizational structure for this club, and there are many reasons for this choice.
For example, the alternative to this idea is for this entity to be a (a civil society serving civil society and not for profit), but with great regret, civil associations have become unwelcome to be established by the Egyptian government now - and any civil association to be established is considered by the government to look Suspicion and accusations are directed at its founders that they are agents of foreign parties or countries, and sometimes accusations are directed and cases are fabricated for them.

- Therefore, the best choice is for the legal adaptation to be ((a cooperative society)) because cooperative societies are viewed by the government with a somewhat neutral outlook. At cooperative prices for its members, and it can also accept donations in order to buy equipment or finance the manufacture of something, means that the donation is conditional on a specific goal.

Conclusion: We are on the right track, but very slowly due to our limited capabilities.

The story is long and thorny in Egypt, now that the revolution has turned into a nightmare.

Our goals are to provide a free scanning film development service for amateur photographers who are poor students or for a small fee for non-student members that is the price of chemical raw materials.
Later on, one of our main goals may be to provide films to members at the actual cost. This is a complicated story and it takes capital.

Filmotec company
It is not what you think, it is a (chameleon) company that deals with Europeans in a very friendly way, but with others it has another mask.
I contacted the company's sales manager.
He told me that the minimum sale is 6 reels films.
He also said that these reels will be packed with a heavy black bag of strong type and that the price of this bag is (...)
That this black bag will be wrapped inside a special carton painted black from the inside and that the price of this box is (....)
- He also said that sending the shipment to the post office will need someone to do that task and this person will receive a wage of its value (....)
- But he forgot that this person will need to pass by the restaurant while he is on his way to the post office in order to have a snack !!!
I told him: I have a relative who is a seducer and he works as a heavy truck driver and he passes by your factory once every two months / He will knock on your factory door and he will give you the price of the films and receive the shipment without a black bag, without a carton, and without anything.
He hasn't answered my messages since I told him that again
