It hurts to be KO'd.

Help me keep a secret please. Do not tell KOdak or KOnica which of their products I am using,,,please...this is important. I guess an explanation is in order.


In the earlier 60's I was using KOdachrome asa 10..KOdak found out and changed it to Kodachrome II asa 25. I adapted. KOdak found out..I do not know how but I have my suspisions..that I was I had again adapted and they changed it to KOdachrome 25. Again I met the challenge..KOdak had had enough. Realized did they that I was onery and determined so they stopped making it...guess they fixed my ass did they not? As an aside, thru charity, I have not used KOdachrome 64 so that Helen can continue making those beautiful transparencies.

I the 60's I had a Linhof Super Technika 23. I used cut film..2-1/2x3-1/2 inches I believe holders containg KOdak Panamatomic-X. Somebody squeeled on me to KOdak and they discontinued the sheet film. Closely did I guard the secret that I was using KOdak Panatomic-X in 35mm and 120 rolls. Well KOdak found out and taught me another lesson.. they junked the stuff and KOdak came out with TMax 100. Again They found out I was using this stuff so they tried to confuse the already hopelessly befuddled and changed the name to 100TMax. After this had be explained to me..I forget by who but It may not have been BWgirl. I was back in business and going weak once again adapting to this trickery in a matter of mere months while being processed at the local Photographer's Hospice for the incurably obsessed due to having fallen for that lovely lass KOdak Ektar 25 when suddenly demised and buried was she. It am almost certain,but not dixactolly certain, KOdak was told that I loved this film by some slitherly viscous thing that crawled out the Great Rodinal Swamp.

I decided if this is they way KOdak was going to treat me, I would date an eastener. Well La Grande Nicole was out of town...almost as far out of my town as I am out of touch with reality so I tried to establish a relationship with Ms KOnica Impresa...50 and far younger than am I. Well you now know what happened to her...est morte.

So if any rat tells KOdak that I love Polymax Fiber or that I have been clued in on the Tmax name change...well you will see what happens and when you least expect it too,

Excellent story, put a big smile on my face. Just try my trick:
Put paper in other boxes, so no spy really finds out that there is Agfa in the Ilford box, use relabelled stuff like Classic or private label stuff, only few people know that Photo Reinhardt Film is actually A..a, packed by T..a, as they had to close most of their shops, there only very very few left.(I mean Film stock as well as knowing people).
Decorate your darkroom with lots of stuff you would not even consider using, like Kodak Farbwelt colour film, once they find out, they close out these products and the world will be a better place!
Consider using Foma Products, at Photokina they were quite positiv about someone travelling to Prague to buy stuff at their downtown store. (The price is about the same as in regular stores in prague.)

Claire, please do not use e200 or e100s and avoid at all costs portra 160nc and the UC twins. Actually I think it would be best if you stayed far away from all photographic materials that reproduce colour.

I hear triX and Plus-X suck so you might wish to shun these as well.

Consider it done

I have not used PLus-X since the middle of last century and only a smattering of Tri-x so I can happily comply in a pain free manner. For Color I have been using You See P_____ Century. I know you can figure it out but hopely my encription will confuse the Great Yellow Father. I was going to use my one time pad but my landlady alredy threw me out...never pay in advance and even less in rereat.

I had that talk with the Foma representatives - I chatted with them about their products, mentioned the Foma company shop in Prague I visited 5 weeks earlier and showed them the bad mistake they made in their german translation of the Foma BW slide kit... and got a free kit as a gift.

There was a man next to me, buying sample packs of the new chamois paper they offered....

No, it wasn't me, I bought the 17 m boxes of film, plus Fomatol PW paper developer for warmtone. Had bought the paper in Prague before. Translation mistake, come on it is too dark in the darkroom to read anyway.

Been one for a very long time

I would love to believe that the D's can deliver and my heart is with them: However, my mind say as Milton Freeman has long noted "There is not free lunch". To which I add "and the most expensive eatery in Washington DC is congress and the presidency". So unfortunately, for this poor soul the R's have it.

Of course, I am alway concerned when I see any offical tick off various points using his fingers...The SOB is a closet digitalist.

I glommed on to Polymax Single weight and really liked working with it. It is all that I used for about Six months... until it was KO'd

Tell me about it

I was using Polymax fiber SW F in 8-1/2x11 and 11X14 when someone snitched. KOdak I am hoping has forgotten that they sell it in double weight or have yet to find out that I use it.

I would hate to have to go back to dealing with dry-down again.
