Istanbul Old Fashion Photo Studios

Hello All

Am new here, Does anyone have any information on old fashioned photo studios in Istanbul where family portraits would be taken with interesting backdrops as well as passport photographs.? Do any of these studios exist..?

Would be great if anyone has been to one or knows anything about existing ones

Let's hope Mustafa Umut Sarac sees this thread and replies -- he's in Istanbul, and is a man of intellectual curiosity, so i imagine he'd have some thoughts on this topic.

I can't speak for Istanjbul but in most towns in Turkey there's small photo studios, often linked to photo shops or minilabs. However all I've seen went digital many years ago, I've used a couple for ID photos etc and yes they have garish backgrounds they can use, however it's DSLRs and studio flash. The switch to digital was much faster in countries like Turkey than here in the UK/Europe.

On one of the Greek islands (Samos or Chios) there's a photo shop/studio run by 3 generations of photographers, they still have their 10x8 or maybe 12x10 Gandolfi on display with 2 Cooke portrait lenses but they thought Ilford no longer made film - that was over 5 years ago. The studio was modern.
