I've disassembled the Prontor 500 SLK-Y shutter of my Voigtlander Vitomatic IIIb that has an issue of not cocking properly. When I pull the rapid film wind lever, the main lever of the shutter mechanism works its way counter-clockwise but never reaches far enough to hook onto the lever above – and just bounces back. Pressing the release then does not fire the shutter. As seen in
this video, I can manually push the main lever the last bit to make it cock.
Next I removed the front plate of the camera where the shutter is attached to gain access to the cocking rack, to see if there's an issue with this mechanism, which is turning a gear at the back of the shutter (see
image). The mechanism seems intact -- however, at about 16 secs into
this video, when pulling the winding lever, there is a metallic click sound and after this the movement of the cocking rack seems to almost come to a stop even though the sprocket wheel keeps turning for a bit more. This might be consistent with the main lever failing to move those last steps needed. Any ideas?
