Hi!

I currently use a Minolta XG2 camera that is in my family since begin of the 80s.

Unfortunately, all manually selected exposure times seem to have equal durations, expect for the 1s setting.
All other times have equal or nearly equal durations (no measurement made, I suppose 1/125s).
If I select automatic or "B" mode, everything is fine.
Battery is fresh and the TTL meter works properly.

Does anybody have a good idea what could be damaged? Leaking capacitor problem?

Thanks a lot in advance
Stephan

Possibly dead batteries.

No, unfortunately not. Batteries are fresh (and voltage is fine).
Light meter works as I wrote and battery test of camera as well.

This is one of the problems with the Minolta electronic versions (as opposed to the SR-T and SR predecessors). Oftentimes, the electronics simply 'go'. I have found that sometimes at a camera show I will test one of the X series bodies and nothing seems to work. But, with a bit of prodding, the camera seems, eventually, to 'reboot', and then work properly.

What spiceminer indicates is a body that is simply not working. (S)he does not state whether this event is sudden or, rather, the result of not using the body for a considerable period of time. If it was being regularly used and this problem is 'sudden', my recommendation is to simply get another body (does not have to be the identical model designated). They are cheap and common. - David Lyga

Hi David,

thanks a lot. The problem occured suddenly, no long period of storage without usage (ok, perhaps between 1990 and 2005).

I procured another two used bodies, an XD-7 (XD-11 in USA) and an X-300, they should be on their way to me, hopefully they will work properly for some amount of time.

Thanks
Stephan
