I use it for cleaning trannies and negatives and buy it in the local village pharmacy in 500ml bottles, they do not stock it but order it in for me, it usually comes in two days. dont go to the big chains stores ,find a small local pharmasist who will be more helpfull

Looked at the phenidone 2 days later, crystals had formed in it, so it was re-heated and another 250mm of anti-freeze added. 25g phenidone to 500ml anti freeze cooled with no crystalization. The catechol stayed in solution just fine.bogeyes said:Leon, I mixed some phenidone in BLUECOL anti- freeze (ethylene glycol) available from any motor spares outlet £3.60 a litre. I put 175ml in a pyrex jug , 1 minute in a 600w micro wave, stir in 25g of phenodine , it dissolves in about 30 secs, top up to 250ml, voila! 10% solution of phenidone, 1g = 10ml Also did the same with my 25g of catchecol.
You have found the problem with hot solutions. As for phenidone, I find a 1% solution most useful if I am mixing small batches of developer, especially if I am going directly to the working solution. 0.05 grams of phenidone can replace 3 or more grams of metol, to give an idea of relative efficacy. That is only 5 ml of 1% solution. Thus about 1 tsp of metol crystals is roughly equivalent to 1 tsp of 1% phenidone solution.bogeyes said:Looked at the phenidone 2 days later, crystals had formed in it, so it was re-heated and another 250mm of anti-freeze added. 25g phenidone to 500ml anti freeze cooled with no crystalization. 5g phenidone to 100ml ethelynegylcol 5% solution 1g = 20ml
