Is this Paterson Super System 4 lid a defect or new design?

Got this today. Not tried it with liquid but even if it doesn't leak now, I feel like returning it unless this is a new design. It's so symmetrical it almost feels intentional. But is it?
The lid is also really difficult to fit on the rim of the dev container.

Definitely not correct. Molding fault.

It's a defect for sure. I noticed that the quality of Paterson products have been on a decline. Two of the four new reels I bought, have some molding imperfection that made loading film difficult. I have to use a sharp knife to shave off some plastic from the beginning grooves to make it smooth. Older ones I bought from other members don't have such manufacturing issues.
