Even my wife agrees... one awesome table lamp.

Thing is, you could find that same enlarger for $30 if you shopped around. I most definitely want one of those in the house somewhere!

Well, I hate say this but I do not like it. Fish out of water. Would not have one in my hacienda.

Remove the base and column and mount the head and bellows as a wall sconce!

I love it!
And yes, I'll be on the lookout for a cheap enlarger for my hacienda.

I'd definitely remove the curved roll-holders, they kill the sleekness... and I like Bsdunek's idea, but I'd dig through my MF color shots and see if I had something cool that I wouldn't mind slowly fading...

No it’s hideous.

Ugly.Having said that,it probably makes a better lamp than an enlarger-I had one of these many years ago and threw it out.

Another option would be to stick a chrome in the carrier. That way the non-photographers in the room might get it. The problem is that most enlargers are too well designed to keep light from leaking out of the system - I've seen it done, but converting an enlarger to a functional lamp is a destructive, one-way process.

@Cliveh & Alan W, if I thought that the would was going to run out of useable enlargers any time soon, I might agree, but life is far too short to get upset over this kind of hack.

Cheers,
Tom

No it is not my cup of tea for decorating, however I have two pairs of circa 1920 to 1930 skiis with the original decals and a pair of vintage snow shoes hanging on the wall.

One word; A W F U L  . . .

I like it. I even thought about doing something similar but I'm too lazy.

Looks like an old Meopta? The conversion is a curio, but not really a very efficient lamp for illuminating anywhere. I could almost imagine someone using a row of enlarger heads, suspended from the ceiling, focussed to illuminate framed prints on the wall - perhaps with some modern high-power/low-heat light source inside.
