Recently I started experimenting with mixing my own developers from raw chemicals. I really like the results and intend on doing more of this. However, after sitting in the cabinet for 4 or 5 weeks I noticed some color changes. The PC Tea and Instant Mytol used to be almost clear. I believe the bottles I used to store them in did not make a tight seal and let air in. These are spice containers and I removed the plastic '"gasket" which has a bunch of shaker holes adn which also, I think now, completes the seal.

Any thoughts? I hope to remove the dark portioon of the Mytol and continue using. I will test on a test roll but do you think the PC Tea is ruined?

Thanks for any insights you can provide. Enjoy this forum a lot.

No. I got the same dark orange color for PC-TEA and it is working like it was mixed new. Mine is not older than yours.

You can test the leader in case if you are in doubt.

1+50: I believe it is for his reference when mixing. ;-)

Both developers are concentrates mixed per the online formulas. I just wrote the working solution dilution rates on the label since I am a little forgetful sometimes.

Thank you for the replies. Do you think I should remove the darkened portion on the Instant Mytol? I applied gaskets to both lids, hopefully no more air should enter the containers.

PC-TEA is one good stuff and it holds the highlights beautifully well. Also shot some in diffused light and it came really good. Will post some photos shot in diffused light soon.
