Hi apugers, I got an LPL enlarger that came with a Universal glass carrier (6x7) and one piece of glass. The glass is in a box labeled "anti-newton top glass", however when I look at the glass, it looks like normal glass on both sides.
How can I be sure this is Anti-Newton or not? I would like to try the glass carrier but I need to order the second piece of glass and don't want to get it wrong.
AN glass has a very very fine matte texture, to the eye it looks slightly less shiny than regular polished glass, this surface goes towards the shiny back surface of the film. If you need a part KHB Photographix in Canada may have it.
Thanks all, I looked at KHB and they are unfortunately out of stock of the AN glass that I need. I emailed Focus Point to get a quote on price and shipping to Canada.
I will have another's look when I'm at home but it looks really similar to normal glass from both sides. No feeling of texture under my fingertips either. Both sides are very shiny.
I have probably the same universal carrier for my LPL enlarger. It came (secondhand) with 2 plain glass panes so I bought the AN one new and put the best of the 2 plain glass ones in the bottom of the carrier. Its pretty obvious when you hold AN glass up to the light to look at reflections on its surface that its not plain glass.
