I have 2 ME Supers, which I completely resealed back in Dec. 08 - the SE's pics are fine. However, the regular ME Super pics have a thin "overexposed" line at the top of the picture. As a matter of fact, I just looked over some older pics - way before Dec. - and some them have that same line at the top ! You guys have any idea what could be causing this ?
I would check if the seals at top and bottom of the back have become gueieeee.
If so replace. Interslice at Ebay sells kits so you can do it yourself easyly.
I use a tiny flashlight to check for light leaks. The one I use is a turtle bike LED bike light, it fits in the same space as a 35 mm film canister. I put on on 'strobe' - take it into the darkroom and wait until I am sure I can't see anything and look. The light is very bright and if there is a leak you will find it. If the camera is old(er) I just replace the seals - THEN I check, but you can check this way for now. I have found (as someone else has mentioned) that vertical shutters can leave funny patterns like that as well.
Most likely, a light leak would not fog film that evenly. Look at the negative strips and line the frames up numerically end to end. Is the fine line of fog the same or are there big blotches of it (formed when the film is not moving through the camera). Considering how film is processed today, a consistent even fog line could even happen during processing. If the foam is bad, by all means replace it. John, www.zuiko.com
