Is this a clever scam?

I don't see a scam there. Lots of people find cameras and other items at
estate sales, etc. and just list them without knowing about them. He stated
he didn't know and gave all the info he could see. There are many, many
cameras like this listed on eBay. I buy some of them. Some are great and
some aren't but I know it's a gamble and I do what I can to increase my odds by
studying the pictures and asking the seller questions. Ive gotten some great
cameras that way for little money as well as some dogs but I never bid much
on them and I can sell the dogs as parts cameras or keep them for parts myself.

If you look at my original post you will find a PS. at the bottom.

No. not yet. As I opted for the cheapest possible shipping I suppose I'll be waiting at least a week.
But I did get my money back for the Rolleicord I bought from a dealer in Sweden where the shutter was not working and he claimed he could not fix it. Go figure.

So I am still shooting with the Seagull. It has an interesting lens. Sharp in the middle and very soft at the edges. Also a lot of vignetting at bigger f:s.

I've considered bidding on this camera, after seeing the thread, but I'd add a note of caution.

My Rolleiflex 3.5E is mint, made 61/62, I knew the original owner who put less than a dozen films through the camera from new, he bought it while in the RAF tax free (35% luxury tax then), but he'd not used it for many years and it didn't work despite therte being nothing actually broken.

As Andy K says the 1 sec is sticking on his Rolleicord, this one may be similar, these cameras shutters etc need use or the lubricants etc on the wind and shutter mechanisms dry/harden and the whole camera needs a CLA.

So if bidding on this one I'd assume it needs a CLA and that may run to nearly a £100, if it doesn't and there's no problems then that's a bonus.

It ended on £200. I do hope it was in good condition.

As I said earlier…

I have seen a couple of Rolleicord Vb TLR's go for over £200 recently. As Rolleiflex prices climb, 'cords seem to be gaining in popularity.
