Is there any point for 220 nowadays? Most cameras can accept both 120 and 220 anyways.

If I was on some boat tour or the like, I'd rather have 16 shots than 8 shots on my 6x9. Has anyone made a 220 from 2 rolls of 120?

By the time I got into medium format, there were no emulsions I wanted available in 220, so it's academic, but on some outings I would love to get 24 shots of 6x6 without having to reload -- if I could get FP4 or 400TX or Acros or HP5! But not all of the time, as I find 35mm, which is increasingly only available as 36 exposure, to be a bit long for my normal use. And as sfaber17 mentions, in a 6x9 like my Ercona II, at 8 shots per roll it feels as though every time I turn around it's time to reload.

But I'm quite willing to assume we'll never see the stuff. I did pick up one 220 insert for my Bronica a few years back, just in case a miracle occurs.

I shoot black and white fine art aerial photos with a Hasselblad 500ELX and often work in fast changing light, I would love to have TMY2 or Delta 400 in 220 for that.

Sirius, if you are serious, I would be interested in the New York bridge. (Think of all the revenue I could generate.) - David Lyga

Those bridges are financing my pension, that is why I can afford to buy so many Hasselblad lenses.

Yes, I do that occasionally. Its not economic in that I do obviously loose the middle frame, hence let's call it 219-film (=19 snaps in 6x7).
Front leader paper remains the same (just cut a bit behind the tape where 1st film is attached), no backing paper behind film, tail end some 14-16" (35-40cm) of backing paper, preferably with the tape to close the exposed film. In my case, 1 shorten the 1st film a bit, so the joint goes quite into the middle of a frame. I use ordinary, thin cello tape.
Good luck!

Sweet. The 6x9 has a fair amount of space between frames, so maybe one could splice it just right without losing a frame. Hmm, 216 Ektar!

So what film is 400D? I may have missed it, but Kodak Vision3 doesn't look like it is available in ISO 400. Is this the Vision3 250D that Cinestill is rating at ISO 400?

So slowly coming back That make two of them, CineStill and Shanghai GP3. So I guess I will get those Bronica and Mamiya 220 film backs undusted.

YEah, there's a long discussion on that.

Vision3 is 250 in movie format (remjet coating, ecn-2 processing). The extra speed is from C41, not having remjet, etc. Just search for the cinestill 400d thread and you'll see dozens of pages of discussion on it.

Well, to be honest, rather than reading dozens of pages, I'll just take your word for it.

Yeah, after somewhere between 3 and 5 pages most threads get... let's say "off topic" and leave it there.

Some folks seem to have used 250d as is and liked it, so I'm sanguine. I'll be exited to see if this works. I have a couple of 220 inserts for one camera and my C330s can do 220, it would be nice to have the option for 24 frames with a color film.

Well, on the RB, 220 backs work fine with 120 film. Winding feels a bit tighter. According to Bill Rogers, you can swap in a 120 pressure plate if you want to fix the "feel". So they've been a nice way for me to get more backs. (If you're about to say "but focus will be off", think it through first please).

220 was handy for shooting things like apparel-on-figure with 6x7 cameras. Clients used to 35mm were also used to 36 frames of the same outfit, but they were cool with 20 on the bigger frames. It did keep the flow of the shoot going. I don't miss it though.

Most likely.

Vision 500T is marketed as 800T.

That's super interesting! I wonder what pricing would be from Cinestill- probably just double what they sell a regular 120 roll for LOL!

Yes, they are charging a bit more than 2x 120 rolls, sadly.

I guess that's the price to pay for the convenience of not interrumpting your shootnig on an important event or so. On 6x4.5 this means 30 shots per roll (sometimes 32, depending on the camera), so a lot of pictures.
