Is there any single weight fiber paper available?

Hello all

While I was going through some boxes I found a number of older Unibind Photobook kits and thought of using them to create gifts for family and friends with darkroom prints. In order to increase the number of prints possible in each book I started looking for single weight fiber paper. So far I have not come across any here in Norway, but wondered if anyone here knows of a manufacturer that still supplies this.

I think Slavich makes a single weight paper.

EDIT: Yes, the Unibrom 160. Finding it may prove a bit tough.

I used an older box of Ilford RC MG glossy recently and that definitely felt lighter / thinner than a more recent purchase of a similar paper, so I don't know off hand if the paper used to be single weight. The Ilford site says RC papers are middle weight at 190g per square metre with FB being 255g psm.

i always have single weight paper around, but i coat my own and found that to be a
great solution to the problem of manufacturers not selling + making them

I was just printing last night on some old Ilford single weight paper. I quite like it, it's really easy to dry mount and looks good that way.

For my unibind photobooks I use regular Ilford RC paper, I find that fiber paper never lies truly flat. As mentioned above the RC may be a bit thinner as well.

Speaking of RC paper, Foma's RC paper is thinner than Ilford's. Maybe it's well suited for that purpose.

Yes, yes, and more yes! Slavich offers some absolutely fantastic single weight fiber papers. I have recently started using them, and they make my head spin in amazement. They only make graded paper, so I'm not sure if that is a dealbreaker for you or not..But they are worth a try!

bound books will flare up even with the thinnest of papers, the trick is to fold the edge into the gutter to use that to sew
you compensate for the front in the back ... unless of course you like the flare, it can be kind of nice..

Coating my own is not an option at this moment in time, but I might try it later.

I too use the Slavich Unibrom. Proof sheets are just not proof sheets on anything but SW paper.
