I see the kickstarter program saying available "Fall 2017" -- Can't find one for sale. Any info appreciated.

I believe that nearly all the Kickstarter 8x10's have shipped out. If you order one today, I suspect the wait time to be 6-8 weeks.

Have you not looked at Intrepid website ?

They have been available for a bit .
Just place the order , and they will make you one .
There's an 8 week lead time as you join a list of people that have already ordered one .
Like the 5x4 camera , there's a waiting time as they have to build it first .

Thanks. I think maybe I was expecting them to be more broadly available. But, yeah, I see the order on the web site. Made to order.

I've seen one used one for sale, since the Kickstarter deliveries started. If used is what you want, give it some time and they will start showing up. I wouldn't be surprised, since the MK III version of the 4x5 was just announced, that they're already working on a gen 2 version of the 8x10. Once that's available, used gen 1 cameras will probably start hitting the used market.

The only one of the intrepid cameras I've seen for sale used is a 5x4 one on eBay now , for about £10 less than a new one .
Only advantage in buying that is not having to wait for a new one .
Whether or not you would get any support if you needed a replacement part from the makers , I don't know .
Buy one off them new and i do know they will stand by there product .

For a camera that doesn't cost much new , how much can you save bying used ?

Whats the specs on the movements, bellows draw, does it do portrait? Cant seem to find anything of value specs wise on the site.
Be nice to have a light 8x10, but then again takes a good breeze to blow around my Orbit.

Their website seems to be acting up .
When your looking at the page it on , lower down there is headers saying such as "what film" , "what lenses" and "specifications" click on that and the page changes to the relevant subject .
When I was clicking on it last night it just returned back to the top of the same page , regardless of what I clicked on .
Might be easiest to just send them an email asking for information .

On mine (an original Kickstarter version), there is a practical minimum focal length of 110mm. This is based on the closest mounting position for the front standard. So you won't get a 90mm to focus at infinity on an unmodified camera, which may be important if the 5x4 back is attracting you. I tried making a small adapter to let me mount the front standard further back, and focus is possible, but movements are (very) bellows restricted.

The back is removed to change orientation (you can take it off and fasten it in any of the four possible orientations). The 5x4 back actually rotates in the mounting.

On mine the bellows extension is a touch under 600mm. You would certainly need a top hat board to get much closer than infinity with a 600mm. I'd say this is a camera that works best in the 270-355mm range, with bounds of 125mm and 450 or 500mm. Very light, but maybe not as rigid as some. I use a Sinar to Linhof/Wista conversion board, since all my lenses are also used on 5x4 cameras where that is a workable standard.

I have found that I can do 4x10 using a simple mask placed between the back and the bellows which is handy.
