Is technidol good for anything other than Tec pan or IR 750?

I just developed the last of my 4X5 Tech Pan and I have a full tank of Technidol. I also need to develop FP4, HP5, Tri-X, Plus-X, Tmax and somthing that says PROP. U.S. NAVY MEETS OR EXCEEDS MIL. SPEC. NOT FOR OFFICIAL USE.

Is technidol of any use or should I dump it? I never used Technidol for anything other than Tech Pan.

It would do well for any microfilm used for pictorial purposes and quite a few high contrast copy films you may want to tone down the contrast on. I doubt it will keep long enough for you to go find some of these films to play with though.

Those films are my work load for tonight (40 sheets and 17 rolls). Last weekend was very busy. I just wanted to get a little extra use out of it but I don't think I will chance it. Everything I find suggests too high of a contrast.

Actually it's the film you use it on that has too high a contrast. Technidol is a low contrast type of developer and if you use it on regular film you will get some low contrast images. It's made for taming the high contrast films and scenes. If you have more to mix for later you can try it on some of those types of film. Just remember they will be as picky with the exposure as tech pan was.

Gary is correct. If you want a really effective combination for night photography, try T-Max 100 (or Acros if you want to pay extra for the Quickloads) developed in Technidol. I've found that making 10 oz. of solution, instead of the 8 oz. Kodak's instructions call for, and using times between 10 and 15 minutes for four 4 x 5 sheets of T-100 in a rotary drum works out very well. I give a time range because you'll need to experiment a little depending on the subject; night photography is kind of a seat-of-the-pants thing anyway. The only drawbacks I can think of are the relatively high cost of Technidol and, possibly, the difficulty of finding it.

I'm sure you could develop any APX25 that you might have lying around. It would probably perform well with the Maco 25, as well.
