I noticed this randomly as I was walking by on my lunch break. Lesley College in Porter Square has an exhibit up of a selection of prints from Irving Penn. It's a retrospective, and includes a number of nice platinum/palladium and dye transfer prints.

Thank you, Moopheus. I'd not heard of Penn, but these are killer portraits.

HiHoSilver, it is stunning and mind boggling to read that you had not heard of Irving Penn. Absolutely one of the most important photographers of all time. He established a portrait style that persists to this day as well as a fashion photography style. His enlarged platinum prints are in every museum in America. He has several large well made books that I think I own most all of. When he was still alive I flew from Portland to Chicago to see his show in the Art Institute, a range of prints that he donated (I think he donated). There is a book of that show as well. He is probably the greatest Platinum printer ever to live. I had a chance here in Portland to hold in my hands a couple of 16x20 unframed platinum prints mounted on aluminum plates, I got to carry them over to the window and study them. It is no exaggeration to say they changed my life forever. You really should spend some time studying him if you care about the finest art of photography.

Thanks for sharing. I'm going to be in Boston in a few weeks, traveling there from Taipei. What a serendipity!

i chatted with one of my neighbors works in / near lunder hall ( where the exhibit is )
to make sure where the photos were going to be ( 2 locations and lots of buildings at lesley
and parking in cambridge ... i wanted to make sure before i ventured )
yesterday he and his wife told me how fantastic it was. and the 2 of them
and their baby could barely curb their enthusiasm about penn and the photographs.
lunder hall is on mass ave, and there is plenty of parking. and if traveling by T
get off in porter square, and walk towards haaavaaaad ... its the new building
next to the exchange ( sears building ) next to the church and across from the paper source.

bunches of PT/PD and silver prints.
i drive probably 2-2 1/2 hours going /coming
it was worth every minute of the round trip !
- can't miss the building, its next to th church they moved ...
and there is a big display easily seen from the street...
