Hello, all.

Anyone know if it's possible to coat a regular flashbulb to turn it into an infrared bulb?

If so, what kind of coating would do the job?

I have some IR bulbs, size 22. One of them has a cracked an lifting coating, revealing the ordinary 22 bulb underneath. It looks as if it would be the simplest thing to just dip an ordinary bulb in whatever coating is needed....

The easier method would be to place an IR filter over the reflector. This has been done in the past by various people with good effect. As long as the bulb is coated to control bursting, which most common bulbs were in the end, you should be fine. If you use a plastic protector over the reflector you should be able to tape the edges of the filter to that cover.
