MoopScan
Hi Folks,
My name is Tim and for the last couple of years I've been working on bringing MoopScan to life.
I've come here to get feedback from people like yourselves, looking to digitise their negatives/slides and may be frustrated by the current options.
One option I came across when looking for an alternative to using a flatbed was using a DSLR and backlight to take photos of negatives. This offered a lot more flexibility with the RAW file support and improved sharpness even when using modest equipment.
I put the idea into practice and liked the results, but disliked how cumbersome the setup was, so I set to designing a product to improve this. What I came up with is a backlit system with almost limitless versatility in use with any combination of body and lens with a filter ring between 37mm and 72mm.
I have just received the first few parts back from the 3D printers for the final prototype, shown here is the base unit, the 135 film format tray, 1 cm adapter and filter ring adapter. Not shown is the 120 film format tray and various other sized adapters.
Here is the first shot that I've used as a test. It was shot with a vivitar 24mm, Nikon F90 and Kodak Gold.
Equipment used is Pentax K5, Pentax 50mm 1.8, 48mm Extension tube
