I'm T.J. or Terry if you need a real name.
I am retired and a hobby photographer. I have never worked professionally as a photographer but I did work in professional labs for several years after earning my pension, doing just about everything one does in a smaller lab. I had a darkroom at home where I processed film and made prints, but when we moved, I left the darkroom behind to concentrate on digital photography and editing. Digital photography fascinated me, and the kinds of things you could do with a digital image seemed limitless.
After retiring and moving to a mountain in Arizona, I expanded my woodshop and for about 15 years I made stuff out of wood, until covidflation made it too expensive. I still had my camera, so I went back to my first love and spent the money I got selling the woodworking tools on a couple of new mirrorless cameras and some lenses. We toured the West and Southwest and I now have a computer full of pictures for my kids to delete when I'm gone.
If it's pertinent, I use Nikons. I have a trusty old D2X, a Z 50, a Z 8, and maybe a half-dozen or so lenses. I'll shoot anything, no preferences. I have an FM for film, which I still do occasionally, but I don't do any processing myself anymore.
