HARDWOOD model. This particular model is shown on their website as available only with a black bellows.
I asked about colours the same as other models and they said
"We generally do this with new models
of cameras as we are usually not sure of demand etc They are available ON REQUEST".
Mmmm

I reckon stock of the plywood models moves much more rapidly, making it easier to predict demand and any stock will revolve much quicker. Also, cost of inventory of the plywood cameras is likely lower.

Why not ask simply them to make you one with your choice of available bellows colour?

I simply queried why they did not do various coloiurs in the Hardwood version when they do it in all others...
...IF I order a Hardwood 5x4 I will ask for a particular colour, They emailed me and said they could do it....

You've already answered that in your original post .
They do sell them , you simply order one up .
Don't forget , Intrepid are a relatively small , independent company .
The lead time on their cameras used to be anything from ordering to a wait of up to 12 or so weeks .
That means everything was made to order .
Possibly now , either they have more staff making them or they have stock holding of their most popular models , if the lead times have come down .

I imagine the hardwood camera is aimed more at the traditionalist market , which would typically go for black bellows , hence why they have this as default and other colours to order .

They sell more than what's listed on the website too .
I wanted to convert a plate camera to 10"x8" regular sheet film , that uses regular DDS .
So I emailed them about buying a spare back , the same as used on their 10"x8" camera and they sold me one of them no problem.
They have reducer backs listed , but not spare parts of whole sections.

There an easy and helpful firm to deal with , I've had several other things off them that's not listed as well .
