Hi,

I ordered an Intrepid 4x5 MK4. And to pass the time while waiting (lead times ~1 month), I was researching how to pack it. "Universal" neoprene (or other material) cases/pouches are widely available, but on the manufacturer's website there's no info on the exact size/measurements of the (folded) camera.

Can anyone who owns one share that information?

I will write "I will read carefully and check twice before asking" 1000 times on the chalkboard as self-punishment.

Lol. I have no idea what shipping is like to Europe (and I am sure there are vendors over there that are doing the exact same thing), but here is something that people seem to like and that is custom-cut specifically for the Intrepid - https://www.stonephotogear.com/wrapscases/intrepid4x5case

I saw that one. But with shipping to Europe the case will probably be more valuable than the camera.

At first glance, something like this. But there are nicer ones.

I figured the additional shipping cost would be a deal killer. I use this product for my 8x10" (bought through US Amazon, but the product seems available in Europe as well). They have different sizes. Obviously not perfectly sized as its not specifically designed for camera gear - https://www.amazon.de/dp/B00T0OJG9S

I have a PeakDesign medium camera cube that I use to pack my Intrepid.

- Interpid wrapped in their own brand cover. 3 film holders on top.
- 3 film holders vertically.
- Nikkor 180/5.6
- Nikkor 90/4.5
- 2 cable releases, loupe, blower, cleaning cloth, pen, etc.
- sekonic 358 ligthmeter

The only thing that does not fit is the dark cloth.

By the way, I would highly recommend you buy the fresnel lens intrepid sells, makes it much easier to see the image on the ground glass.

I pack my Technikardan (folded: 12.5 x 21.5 x 25.5 cm) in a 19" Domke lens wrap. Its not a case, obviously, but it protects it a bit before sliding it into my bag. They're reletively cheap, and I'd guess they'd probably easily cover the Intrepid.

Actually the Domke Lens Wrap that you have was originally made for us to protect the producing bellows when the TK came out. After a couple years Jim Domke called us to see if we had any objection if he sold it under his name and we then discontinued the LInhof Wrap.

I have carried my Intrepid in an old Graflex Speed Graphic case since the beginning. I just received the Mark 4 (the old one will become a full time enlarger) and it fits nicely in the same case. Nice thing about the Graflex case is there is room for lenses, film holders, dark cloth, etc. Not to mention that it is pretty sturdy and protects the camera quite nicely.

BTW - The Fresnel is a definite plus!!!

It finally arrived! Inrepid 4x5 Mk4 "Black Edition" with fresnel and 2 film holders. Cloth is on back order, so I´ll just use a towel for the first experiments. :-D

This is how I am packing my Intrepid:
- ordered a "electronics bag" from Amazon. This one: https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B07TMDFP6Z/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
- ordered a Lens-Aid camera "sleeve"/bag size L: This one: https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B07S6JPZ5L/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Conclusion: perfect fit and I can easily put the camera into my backpack (on top). In the lid I can store 2 holders, cable release or whatever. As for the holders: not completely happy, would need to put something between them (cloth?). But what if I want to take more holders with me, any suggestions on how (a bag? a case?) to take 4, 6 or 10 holders with me?

it would be a completely different setup, not something just for the holders, but I use a Domke F-2 for my Technika, and the pockets at each end hold 3 4x5 holders each. The F-1 is a "little bit bigger", and looks to have identical sized pockets on each end, though I've never seen one in the flesh. I also have a Domke F-7 for my Technikardan (yes I like Domke bags...) and it also has pockets at each end to hold 6 each. Domke bags are a bit pricey, but I've found them almost ideally sized for the 4x5 cameras.
