Thanks for the tips everyone! I'll try to sight whether it's in the rear or front of the lens and then have a look at how the elements are placed. If it's in the front then maybe I will try and open it up

I think there is a youtube clip on some guy cleaning this 80mm with a slow shutter speed. The name ring and the retaining ring are one, on the front element. Some lenses you have to remove the name ring and then the retaining ring to remove the front element. In this case, you don't have to. A lens spanner or a lens rubber stopper with a hole cut in the middle (lens clearance) should allow you to loosen the retaining ring. Then, the front element can be removed this way. Hopefully, you don't need to remove the 2nd and 3rd lens elements because they are harder to remove, based on my own experience. If you have to remove the 2nd and 3rd lens element, you should use a set of lens rubber stoppers. With a lens spanner, you can slip and scratch the lens and at times you my need to use A LOT of force to loosen it. I believe with the 2nd and 3rd lens element, the lens retaining is smaller and you don't have much room to give the spanner a good grip on it.

rear cells usually come out as a sealed group n just unscrews fairly easily.

a straight edge is all you'd need to span the large notches. if the curve of the glass gets in the way... just snip out a v to clear.

caution on the front elements. i use a marker to id the front side of the element so i dont install m inside out. sometimes its hard to see which side goes where.

also a small suction cup or sticky tape makes picking m up easier too... sometimes they seat so perfectly n have to be lifted straight up. turning the lens over to drop it out can have several elements n spacers follow, then go figure which is which. hahaha ask me how i know?

I am going to close my eyes and cover my ears during this operation. I can already hear bids go out for a replacement lens.
