While shooting a shot of 50 steam tractors withmy #16 camera, a guy walks up to me and says he has a 16 as well, which caught me by surprise. I was talking about film sources, and he mentioned that someone said Kodak had a large stock of 8" verichrome pan in the warehouse that they had run when they decided to finally stop selling verichrome pan in 2002. Well I had to investigate, and found that it seems to have been a just a rumor after all.
But, he said that Kodak is willing to look into doing special order film runs for a $5000.00 minimum. He was very positive about looking into special runs, which included 8" cirkut film, and $5000.00 seems less than past quotes.I find it interesting that Kodak is talking about special orders in a more positive manner.
My question is : Are people interested in spooled 8" B&W cirkut film (not verichrome as it's history). Other sizes? Obviously cost is a factor, but if you've spooled your own you know how much of a pain it is. Who out there has an interest in different cirkut film sizes and want's to buy prespooled film? This is a good place to get together and join forces.
I've also just started a blog specifically for antique pan camera users- cirkuts, panorams, al vistas, etc. It's at http://cirkut.blogspot.com/
Best., Jamie

I'm wondering how the special order of TMY through JandC turned out. I read some time ago that Kodak had still not come through with all of the sizes. Did they eventually produce what they promised? This is very good news if Kodak will actually produce the film.

Juan, no they didn't. I ordered and paid for TMY in 5x12 and it was never delivered. After waiting nearly a year, would you trust them to come through on a special order?
