Interest in "APUG" Hats

Since the reemergence of the hat thread started by Peter D. way back, I thought I'd see what real interest there is in various hats I can make available.

By no means is this meant to usurp his initial offering, but Peter seems to not be logging in much these days. But, since I have taken the initiative to create other products/designs in the APUG store, and have the logo in the proper formats, I thought I'd post a few samples here to see what you Ape Huggers prefer.

I intentionally left out a baseball style cap, as that was Peter's thing. But, I can get of course. Here's some varied samplings from a great source who carry everything...except I couldn't find an "Ape" style hat..

Keep in mind to order 1 or 2 or 3 (e.g.) of different styles is not very feasible, as most have minimums and price breaks, as well as screening/emboidery charges costing more for just a few.

So what I'm looking for is maybe two styles to start, with a minimum of 12-18 of each to order. I think in general all these would list for $20 or less.

p.s. Again, I'm trying to appease the masses....and all these samples can be embroidered or screened. Probably just the logo with the URL below

Mat I like the ones on the far right insert and within the insert the one on the right. Good idea. Would be nice for the Calumet/Ilford Semminar.

From the first group of three (from left to right) I use the ones on the far right, they are very comfortable and flexible enough that I dont have to take it off to go under the dark cloth.

Centre group, centre hat - very similar to my old army 'giggle' hat, very comfortable.
2nd choice first group, centre hat & third choice last group, last hat.

The ones Nicole pointed at are the style I wear on the street and people here look at my like I am an alien. I can imagine the special forces beret style with APUG instead of the millitary insignia...

Far, far right; or middle, middle. Along the lines of Henry Fonda in "On Golden Pond"

Washable, and foldable!!!

Any of the floppy, "safari" style hats would appeal to me. But I must insist upon embroidery - no silk screening for hats!

Also, rightmost group, rightmost hat. That's cool.

Thanks so far for your input.

Hans, the colors available, not necessariuly shown, are what we're stuck with. A few styles do have a grey.

Andy, the camouflage hats would not lend themselves to embroidery very well.

Ari, you crack me up man...

Yes Joe, I would only do embroidery on hats.

So far there is more interest in a safari style and beret type.

I wear a few berets (backwards of course) as I find them suitable for shooting, and also a floppy style for shade, ease under darkcloth, and flexible brim to not inhibit SLR use.

Remember, I have to order minimums of 12 or 18 on certain styles. Whatever I end up listing will be sure to satisfy only a small portion of our subscribers, so, in advance, I have to make an informed decision with the best prospect of moving them, and to have 48-72 hats, different styles, based on sales history of the tee shirts, would take many months for these to clear my house! In a few days I'll narrow the posted choices down and maybe start a poll or new thread.
So, maybe consider not so much your favorite, but something you would wear if made available.

Do these hats have design names you could put under them like fedora or base ball hat etc, or could you put numbers under them or what the catalog describes them as? just a humble suggestion, I am trying to compliment my APUG ensemble.

I'm with Gene - baseball caps are for mowing the lawn

Left grouping - hat on the right.
Middle grouping - hat on the right
Right grouping - hat on the left.

Color: black, gray, beige would probably be best.. Probably not blues, greens, or reds. Definitely no chartreuse or hot pinks. A darker color would help hide discoloration or soiling.

Embroidery is better than silkscreening.

Presume that all fabrics can be sprayed with Scotchgard.

How about an embroidered APUG patch we can sew on our own hats, jackets or bags? Something along the lines of the card design. Then everyone can have the style they prefer.

Now that's a really good idea - no concerns about colors, styles, sizes. Could go on hats, jackets, vests, or underwear.

If they were the same as, or similar to, the (there was a url link here which no longer exists) design they'd go on anything. Or they could even just be the site logo.

I agree with Andy, Matt you should have embroidery business card style patches made so we can saw it on anything. I'll buy four or five .
