The language is 'tied' to your preferences it comes up in English for me.

Now if someone made a Graflok version, that would be interesting.

No, it is location based. That shop site even changes my browser setting!

I've tried it with two browsers just because of this discussion. One has strict settings, and the other I keep quite loose. I'm in the U.S., and both browsers give me the German page.

At first I got the German page with a notice at the top (in German) about changing my shipping address to the US, because the site saw that my IP was from the US. I clicked to change, and now I get the page in English.

I do not understand computers...

That's why I love that crank at that back. Gives me trust in what I'm doing.

Mine is stuck in German. I guess that must be a national language here in Canada. Time to clean the wax out of my ears, I guess......

Even after creating an account, any reference to that back or the store swings me into German. I chalk it up to bad QA of their site. I have used and ordered stuff from there before (2 years ago) with no issues. It's probably a cookie from hell overriding something. I suspect if you went to the site first then clicked the url in the first post, it would probably be ok. That would be the opposite of what I did...

It really doesn't matter. It's a back for a camera that has a soft focus tendency. Why give a large image area to a low resolution lens?

Because the enlargement of the image in case of the Instax film is much less than typically done with negative film?

(Well, than of course one could ask why the Belair got that lens in first case.)

I'm digging up this thread as I bought one of theses cameras. I bought it second hand from a lady who didn't get one single decent photo out of it. well, although I'm a photographer, my first shots aren't convincing as well.

except the lomography press releases I found very few technical information, the review cited above and a few bits and pieces here and there. my problem seems to be correct exposure.

instax film is 800 iso. the camera comes with piece of cheap plastic ND filter to put under the lens, in front of the shutter, to cope with the high iso and you should set the camera to 200 iso (for a start). the filter gets scratched if you change lenses. so the first thing I'm looking for is how to attach a decent ND filter to the lens(es).

for the rest of the camera I feel quite o.k. as I knew what I would get. so any information about the use of the instant back and filters would be welcome. there must be some people who have one out there. thanks in advance.

I didn't realize it was that high iso. It may be worth looking into.

Doesn't the camera have any manual settings? Just shoot it with an adjusted EI? Or is it totally PnS?

Get an old kodak 3A and attach the back to that, will give you lots of aperture control to stop down for compensation?

except B it is PnS, but you have to set one of 4 focus ranges. there are only 2 apertures, 8 and 16. at 16 the lenses are quite o.k, at 8 they are soft. the time is set automatically by a device similar to the famous electric eye from polaroid. exposure time can vary between several seconds and 1/125 with no indication. on roll film it works fine so far. instant film obviously wants an exact exposure. I haven't found out yet what makes it fail from time to time.

you can play with the iso setting of course. a variable ND filter would be marvellous.
